Hi, all,
I'm not even sure that InfoSelect qualifies in the category of outliner, but it comes as close as some of the applications we discuss. So, with that said, I just want to provide a mini-review of version 8, which is currently in pre-release, but can be purchased. The price tag for new buyers ($249) is pretty steep, and I hate the way Micro Logic gouges its existing customers for the upgrade ($100 each time). So I was prepared to ignore this version, but when I saw how they had dramatically improved the text formatting options I was sold. And, having used IS 8 for a week, I can say with some confidence (not wholeheartedly yet) that for my purposes, Info Select is 200% more functional. Maybe they've finally gotten it right.

SteveZ,
Thanks for the info. Can you tell if ver 8 is fully RTF? For example, can it do superscripts and subscripts?
One feature I like about IS is that not all of your documents need to be stored in the same file. The tree will show separate files and their contents can be displayed in the right pane, and the search function will search all of them. Is this still true with Ver 8?
Thanks, again!

Yeah, I've paid for at least 3 upgrades in the last few years and that's it for me. The upgrades they offer are, IMO, overpriced and only slighty incremental in added features and not really worthy of a full version number revision.
So... I don't really care if "they got it right this time".

Hmm... I've been looking to use a new Information Manager (I've given up on Zoot -- a generally fabulous program but STILL plain text!)... and InfoSelect looks interesting.
As far as I can tell, though, it's the ONLY Information Manager that is not trial'able with a free download. Ack! (though I realize that Micrologic offers a money back guarantee).
One thing that confuses me a bit is the subscription option. While the program itself is $249, the annual subscription is only $49. This doesn't make sense to me as I understand it... that I can just pony up $49 each year and always have the latest version. Or is that $49 in ADDITION to the one-time $249? Hmm. That's a big difference!
