Okay, bad form here, but I’m going to reply to my own post.
I just went and played with Acta and created two outlines and published and subscribed topics between each. You can’t edit the subscribed data, but you can move it around in your outine as long as you move the whole family.
I think this functionally duplicates cloning within a single outline as well.
Within a department topic of the master outline I created a downlink topic and an uplink topic. The downlink is published to the department’s outline and the uplink topic receives the department’s input to the master outline.
It’s pretty cool to me, but what do I know?
If only I ran an organization that used Mac’s!
Things to try:
See if contextual menu manager and Apple Data Detectors will allow me to create links to files or websites within Acta or More outlines.
Publish Acta topics to AppleWorks documents of various kinds to alter the presentation of the information. (Idea - use a draw document to create a calendar, create text boxes within the drawing which subscribe to calendar data within the outline - a lot of work to replicate a simple PIM, but it’s fun and it may offer some flexibility).
I suppose I’m really going to have to learn Frontier one of these days…
