I’m quite impressed by NoteMap 2. And I’m glad to see a customizable keyboard interface has been added, although am disappointed that it only allows one-key bindings, and doesn’t allow customizing of basic editing keys (such as “cursor left”); as is, it doesn’t seem possible to add a WordStar-keystroke interface to it, which is the one thing I’d love to see.

There’s a lot I don’t know about in Windows, but on the Mac there was a simple solution: Quickeys. According to PC Magazine, the same seems to be true here: “Anything that can be done with your mouse and keyboard can be automated with QuicKeys.” (PC Magazine, November 27, 2000.) Why isn’t QK, or some macro program, the answer to every Word-Star navigator’s wish?
