GV’s file size limit is governed by how much RAM is available to a DOS window. The ram has to include the running parts of the program and all of the open files. Note: The program (ver 2) was designed to not load all of it in ram at startup. So it is possible, for example, for the speller not to work if your ram is already too full.

I zip GV files all the time.
