I also lamented the “demise” of outliners from the mainstream software development. In fact, the outline capability was one of the reasons I continued using WordPerfect long after everyone else had switched to MSWord!
And then….I bought a Palm and discovered that outliners are alive and kicking! ThoughtManager, Shadow Plan, Bonsai, Arranger, BrainForest, take your pick! Some of them (ThoughtManager, Shadow Plan) come with very decent PC/desktop versions. Of course, being developed for a different platform means some quirk behaviour/features but, overall, the news of their demise were greatly exagerated!
Now if I could only find an all-in-one outliner, wordprocessor and bibliography program that doesn’t cost US$ 450 (Nota Bene), I’ll be a happy camper. There used to be one from Addison-Wesley but I don’t even remember its name!
