Hello, I am a new member of this ‘old timers’ community. I also wish that More found a new home, and I can tell wonderful stories of productive work empowered by that wonderful outliner. I am as perplex as most of the members of this community seem to be about the demise of what looked like a healthy market segment.
But the subject of this email is not to rememorate, but otherwise warn you about an application available in this same site, MyBase.
I decided to use MyBase in evaluation mode to start the otuline and preliminary note taking for a new book I am writing. The perspective of exporting to HTML trees was tempting as a collaboration tool, handy when the moment of co-edition and review begins. So, I took what now looks like a suicide step: I used an untested application for the task.
The results make me very angry: after a couple of access violations (amateurish memory leaks that by now nobody expects to find in released applications that you PAY FOR), the application died trashing four days of intensive work. Further, the export to HTML doesn’t quite work (outline is exported, by not so the text associated to the outline items). Same thing with the “export to .exe”.
I am pissed off, but I don’t want to slander just for the taste of it. I wanted you to be aware, VERY aware about this sorry behavior in case you are considering using it.
