Greetings!
When I did a web search and found this page I was delighted to see that Ready! was one of the Outliners discussed. Then, saddened to find that there is very little info on it here.
For those of you oldies who remember it, it was an exceptionally fast Outliner that, once you learned the keystrokes, had a lot of flexibility, and power.
My experience has been that windows based Outliners (Ready! was DOS based), are in spite of themselves MUCH slower. When you have to take your hand from the keyboard to reach for a mouse, find a button, click, and get back to “ye olde home row”, your throughput suffers (in my opinion). Ready! was also a TSR (Terminate, Stay Resident) program, and was therefore one of the very first aps that allowed you to pop it up while you were working in your WP. It was VERY cool!
About the same time that Ready! was made available, another company wrote a cool File Manger called Pathminder. It used an almost identical navigation system, and treated your files like a huge outline!
Can’t tell you how much I miss the features of Ready! If anyone knows of this utility, and can point me towards something comperable, I’d be grateful
Thanks!
