I’ve never heard of anyone copyrighting a file format. Just not documenting them. Of course, this makes work for us “reverse engineers” (I’ve actually been paid to reverse-engineer tape formats before).

It’s unlikely that the file format is tricky enough that a reasonably talented programmer couldn’t figure it out within a day or so.

Should someone have lots of PCO for DOS files that they need converted, I could be hired to figure out the format…
