Hi,
I am Edward K. Ream, the creator of Leo, an Open Source outlining editor for programmers whose visual interface is about as close to MORE as can be imagined :-) See http://webpages.charter.net/edreamleo/front.html
I’d like to open a conversation about Leo joining forces with Instant Outlining. Recently, Leo’s user’s have been wanting “Leo over the net” or LeoN. Today one of Leo’s users pointed me at Jon Udell’s article about Instant outlining. http://www.oreillynet.com/lpt/a//webservices/2002/04/01/outlining.html Hugely exciting! Clearly, Instant Outlining is where we want to be with LeoN, and more likely it is far beyond what we were dreaming about.
So I am wondering whether Leo could use Instant Outlining as is? If so, how? If not, can we adapt Instant Outlining so that Leo and Instant Outlining can benefit of each other? For example,
OPML appears not to support clones. If OPML did support clones we could use OPML as the format of .leo files!
I am a complete newbie to Instant Outlining and related products. Any guidance would be most helpful. I believe several of Leo’s users would be willing to undertake some significant work to bring Leo up to speed with Instant Outlining.
Thanks.
Edward
