Getting at the embedded formatting is trivial since I have to skip it anyway.

I doubt I’d be able to spend the time necessary to reconstruct the rule cascading of rules, though, not to mention the parsing and decoding of the rule sets. That’s what would be necessary to reconstruct the default format of each heading/paragraph.

Perhaps I should declare an HTML namespace in the header and put HTML:SPAN elements in with the correct attributes?
