AppleWorks 5/Clarisworks 4 has a real problem…Outlines are really jusy formatting styles for a paragraph. The controls work to set up the style levels, but there is no true structure to the data.

ClarisWorks 2 and ClarisImpact 2 (really just a special version of clarisworks) actually created a true structure for the outline and is more true to the spirit of MORE than newer versions.

ClarisImpact actually allowed very good mixing of graphics and text in an outline. It’s only problem was in transferring an outline from the “presentation” to the “report” views. Instead of accepting the format of the new environment (formatting, text size and color), it kept the formatting of the original source material. The problem here is that Black text in the wp report would be pasted into the presentation outline, keep the black text, when the presentation format had white text on dark background. This required an extra step to change the text color so it would be seen.
