Kept a Mac for years just to use MORE. Original THINK TANK 128 K user who has yet to find a satisfactory substitute. Tried using Word outliner and purchased Inspiration for my son but not sold on either. Would like to find best PC outling software for school homework, reports and research and general organization (his elementary & middle schools dumped their MAC's for PC's years ago). Will use it myself if it resembles MORE. Also, how do I set up MORE to run on WINDOWS XP and transfer my MAC MORE lists? Is it possible to do this without damaging my self concept.....any info posted on web on this process? My compliments to those who created this site. Really loved my MORE...wrote one book, many articles, outlined thousands of speeches and organized my life.....plugged MORE on my PBS special, DON'T AGONIZE-ORGANIZE in 1990.

There's a good freeware Mac emulator called Basilisk II that runs well under XP. So, rather than directly running MORE on a PC, you run a Mac on your PC & then install MORE on the Mac.

Some questions first:

Do you want software for yourself alone or also students? (Students suggests it needs to be free.)

For writing, pure classic outlining software is best.

For research, tree-based "outlining/PIM" software may be better. Do you need graphics as well as text?

Do you want to save a lot of web pages?

Do you need to print or just store info?

I currently use 5-6 different programs to cover all of the above. Answer the above questions to get better answers.

Thank you Chris & WJJ, I have downloaded Basilisk II and will install it this weekend when everyone is out. Really hope to get More going again. I have also downloaded Mybase and will give it a try. I believe we will end up using a traditional outliner and a program such as Mbase. Will keep you posted on progress. Upgraded Inspiration and it seems improved. If you have kids, you can understand how much I appreciate your help and Steve's. I never swore before I started helping my son do homework!!! We are going crazy looking for notecards, drafts, research material and even instructions for my son's projects. Other parents tell me this is common. I hope not. If you will email your addresses I will send you one of my PBS DON'T AGONIZE-ORGANIZE videos. In 1990 PBS ran Tom Peter's special, Leo B and others as well as mine. I outsold them all and that tells you more about subject and need for organization than my speaking ability. Best, John Lee
