Steve -
Thanks very much; I’ll try this. I have already tried NoteMap’s own recommendation of using cut-and-paste to import. This works very well, but there seems to be a 32k or so limit on what it can handle in one bite. After that it starts missing text. It’s not a clipboard problem, so I assume it’s a NoteMap limitation. I’m hoping your alternative technique can handle longer Grandview outlines. Some of my lectures were 80k (my poor students…)
I used the menu command “File/Sendto/Microsoft Word” to export the outline from NoteMap (v1.1) to Word and it performed faultlessly. From there I was able to switch from outline to document mode with no problem. Is this the technique you found problematic? Is it a known bug?
It’s worth buying the program for this ability alone, as I haven’t found a way of exporting a .HEAD file directly from Grandview into Word that gives me a structured outline to work from (maybe I just haven’t tried hard enough <g>.
I was very disappointed with my PC-Outline for Windows trial program; I used the DOS version for years before I switched to Grandview. PCO-W was very buggy on the Thinkpad 486-75 I ran it on and I could hardly believe how long it took to get anything done. In fact the problem was not being able to get anything done - although, again, I may have choked it with too large an imported GV file. It’s a pity, because some of the basics, which included support for DOS outlining files, looked very hopeful.
