I just got a Dell laptop running Windows XP and it won't run Thinktank.
I tried running both install.exe and tank.exe directly, and I get a screen but the keyboard won't respond. I know there are better outliners out there, some of which I have tried, but "my whole life" is on a Thinktank file going back over 12 years and I don't want to spend the time moving all that stuff.
Anyone have any tips for installing it? I know it must be possible.

I don't have XP, but I understand that it has a compatiblity mode option which will make an older program, like Thinktank, "think" it is running on an older operating system.

I ran in to this last week with Word Perfect 5.1. I could only get it to run on one XP laptop in a window. Full screen wouldn't respond to the keyboard. Last weekend I setup a Dell XP desktop with a slightly different Word Perfect (5.1+) and it worked full screen. I haven't figured out what's different between them.

The option to put XP into compatibility mode is found by right-clicking on the executable, selecting "properties" and then going into the "Compatibility" tab, where you can set various options.
