One last try. Maybe if I put a period at the beginning of each line.

Word outline view now looks like this:

. + Heading
. + Sub-Heading
. - Sub-Sub-Heading

But I’d like to see it look like this:

.+Heading
. +Sub-Heading
. -Sub-Sub-Heading
