Of the dozens of Outliner programs, past and present, MORE is the most impressive, but apparently only available for the Mac. The past windows outliners were crude; the current are all based on the "windows explorer" medaphor (a lefthand window showing the outline tree, a righthand window showing the text in the currently selected tree branch). And More itself, so to speak, has evolved into Web only based outliner! (If you haven't seen MORE, it doesnt make a distinction between headlines and text--any text can be the headline for a new layer of text).

1. GrandView was a great DOS outliner & PIM
2. There are single-window outliners such as Notemap and StoryView
3. If you line two-pane PIMs, you should investigate Treepad Plus.
4. In 2-pane PIMs, think of the tree as a Table of Contents that can be rearranged and the FIND function as an index.
