The Mac WordPerfect 3.5 (enhanced) outliner is a pretty decent outliner, and it’s free for mac folk. It can be downloaded here http://allmacintosh.ii.net/adnload/7326.html.

When one compares it to what Word does with outlines or with what Nisus is trying to do there are definite advantages. For example, it’s easy to rearrange items in an outline with drag and drop without messing up your numbers etc. Neither Word nor the new Nisus programs do this well. The other infuriating thing with Word is its forced formatting.
