I'd like to use MORE for a presentation rather than redo everything in that other presentation package. The problem is I want to do text builds in the bullet chart mode so that at first it shows no items and then adds them one at a time. When I tried to fiddle with it, it seemed only able to do 1 item and then add on additional ones to that. Am I missing something?

No, that's indeed how it works - a bit irritating, but liveable. The workaround is to add a dummy item (blank headline, no label) at the top, and if necessary adjust the Vertical Height rule for subheads to close up the gap.
