Howard, that’s quite interesting.

There is some prior-art here.

Brian Andresen did an XMLization of outlines last year. I’m not sure where his spec is.

And we use Frontier’s outliner for XML stuff all the time. Not the same way you’re specifying it, we’re using the outliner to construct XML. It’s very logical and useful because the hierarchic structure of XML is a match for the hierarchic editing capabilities of outliners.

I’ll send a pointer to this message to Brian, maybe he can paste in some of the work he was doing last year.
